All the pieces are falling into place (which is fortunate, considering that Flinders RunFest 2013 kicks off in just over 24 hours!). The new signs have arrived, the Pub2Pub kilometre markers have been dusted off, and the pasta sauce is well on the way to deliciousness.
My big "phew" moment was the arrival this morning of the new t shirts and tote bags. Overnight delivery from Brisbane: well done Aus Post!
The shirts are organic cotton and made in Australia, so cost a bit more than last year's shirts. As they say, though: "One dollar, one vote". Flinders Island prides itself on clean living and local support, so it didn't feel right ordering cheap unsustainably-grown-cotton shirts from overseas.
The shirts are available in Ladies (sizes S-XL) and Men (sizes M-L). Cost will be $40 each.
We do have some of last year's shirt left, which were hand printed right here on Flinders Island by our talented local artist Maria LaGrue. They're available in Youth (sizes XS and M) and Men (sizes S and L-XXL). Cost for those will be $25 each.
The t-shirts will be available to buy at the Pasta Night tomorrow night, and at the Taste of Flinders / Presentation Ceremony on Sunday. The bags will be handed out on Sunday as spot prizes - maybe you'll win one for Most Enthusiastic Pub2Pub Team, or for Best Flinders 5 Fancy Dress!
My other job this morning has been to go through all the prizes and allocate them to categories. Lots of locally-made produce (see list below), plus some sports towels and engraved wine / beer glasses.
Mmm, really hope I've done enough training this year - I could do with a wine glass, local soap and some honey! But a sports towel, and jam would be nice too :-)
Maybe I should just wear a mad costume and hope for a tote bag or bottle of wine...
See you on the weekend; it's shaping up to be a good 'un!
