Goodness me, is it really 5 months since the 2013 Running Festival? Tempus fugit, indeed.
The organisers have been working away over summer to get 2014's RunFest details nailed down. We're looking into new timing systems to streamline everything for participants and volunteers, and we have a very exciting guest speaker in mind for the Pasta Night. I'm actually finding it very difficult to not let the cat out of the bag, but had better wait for final confirmation before doing so. It's killing me, I'm telling you.
In other news, now that the season of snorkelling, BBQs, and general school holiday beachiness is over, I'm back into the running. This morning I ran on the Castle Rock track (one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks). I've never been on this track before, and admittedly lost it a few times (must have been running too fast), but it was spectacular there today. It's a combination of beach, rock scramble and grassy headland, and I just had to have a quick dip at Emita Beach on the way back.
The only potential downside of this morning's run was the tiger snake sunning itself on the track, but I was already past it before I noticed the dark scaly silkiness. Normally this event wouldn't bother me, but I was listening to Zombies, Run! at the time, which can be a bit of an adrenaline kicker... as a foot on top of a snake would have been. Ah well, I was in his territory so it's only to be expected :-) And fortunately the zoms were a distance away as well.
