In 2018, the course started at The Furneaux Tavern, Lady Barron and finished at The Interstate Hotel, Whitemark. The course direction is reversed each year, so on odd years, like 2019, the course is run from Whitemark to Lady Barron and on even years from Lady Barron to Whitemark. The course winds through farm land and bush with no major obstacles, just the odd pot hole. The majority of the course is on sealed roads with the rest being on packed clay gravel roads. All intersections on the course are manned by aid stations so you would have to try very hard to get lost. There are 4 drink station supplying lollies, fruit and water for participants. Any personal drinks or food need to be carried by participants or supplied by personal support crew.
In the spirit of getting as many people involved as possible, we encourage teams of whatever number or combination or mode that suits. In 2010 we had a relay of uni-cycling school children.
There is not a lot of traffic on the roads and the Flinders Island locals are all well aware of the race but please remain on the right hand side of the road and ensure you have clothing that is highly visible. In case of emergency call 000 and they will arrange the local SES, police or ambulance service. But the most important rules are to encourage all other runners and have fun.
Refueling after the race is easy; luckily we always finish at one of the pubs so there is always cold beer, drinks and a full lunch menu.

Coming out of Whitemark the course is on sealed road and gently undulates for the first 6kms. The road then climbs fairly steeply for the next 3kms and then it's down hill all the way to Lady Barron. At about the 10km mark the course changes to packed gravel road until the final km into Lady Barron which is sealed.
In 2017 the course was the same, but in the reverse direction.
